F.A.Q.

How long does Headlight Restoration take?

The entire restoration process will take between 30 minutes and 1 hour to completely restore your lenses to factory clarity.

How long can I expect my results last?

We guarantee our results for a period of 1 year but how long your lights will stay clear depends on many factors. Weather and road conditions along with how well you maintain your vehicle may affect longevity.

Can I fix my yellowing / hazing myself?

Many companies sell self restoration kits and some are effective however, the probability of self-restoring your lenses to factory clarity without professional equipment is unlikely and the results will not last long.

Water Spot & Mineral Decontamination Removal

water spot & mineral decontamination removal photo

It happens to everyone. You come out to your car in the morning to find the sprinklers have peppered the car with water. Water spots are everywhere! Most of the time we simply drive off and the water spots are forgotten. It is when this water is left on the car all day that the damage occurs. The sprinkler water contains high amounts of calcium, magnesium, iron and other minerals that when left to dry it leaves mineral deposits we call water spots. Inside Out Car Care specializes in the removal of water spots & mineral decontamination on your vehicles exterior paint and glass. We have been performing the same process for 25 years and take every precaution to remove deposits from your vehicles exterior finish and glass safely with a process we perfected which makes our results stand out above our competition. After removing deposits on your paint we recommend package #3 Exterior Detail. Paint: Includes a Chemical Process We Perfected that is Safe for All Exterior Surfaces. Glass: Includes a Chemical Process that we Perfected along with a Jewelers Rouge for the Windshield and Side Mirrors. *May be Additional Charge upon Inspection of Vehicle’s Condition

Clay bar treatment

$45*Light Clay Prep All Vehicles

$85 per hr.Heavy Clay Removal All Vehicles

Length of time depends on the vehicle. We recommend it before any polishing or waxing

Heavy Clay Bar Process: Detailing Clay is an Engineered Resin Compound Used to Remove Contaminants from the Surface of your Vehicles Paint, Fiberglass and Metal.

How Does Auto Detailing Clay Work?

Detailing clay glides along the surface of your paint and grabs anything that protrudes from the surface. The particle sticks to the clay and is therefore removed from your vehicle. The surface being clayed should always be wet with clay lubricant to prevent loose debris from scratching the vehicle.

Used properly, detailing clay is completely safe and non abrasive. It’s a much better option than polishing to remove these contaminants because clay doesn’t remove any paint.

What Does Detailing Clay Remove?

Your vehicle is under constant assault from airborne pollutants. Brake dust, industrial fallout, acid rain deposits and rail dust all can adhere to your vehicle. These contaminants often contain metal particulates, which accounts for the ease with which they penetrate the clear coat to attack the paint below. These contaminants then oxidize, and they allow rust to spread beneath the clear coat. Tiny orange spots today, total paint system failure tomorrow! Detailing clay removes these contaminants in order to keep the paint healthy and vibrant.

Do You Need To Clay?

Chances are, the answer is yes. The surface of your vehicle faces assaults from the environment every time it’s out in the weather. Each road trip brings new insults from roadway debris, exhaust films, and airborne pollution. They will splash, mar, and embed themselves in that beautiful paint job you’ve labored over. Vehicles can accumulate these contaminants any time, any place – even at the dealership.

The Bag Test

There’s a simple test that will indicate whether or not you need to clay. Wash and dry your vehicle, put a plastic sandwich bag over your hand and lightly rub your fingertips over the paint. If it feels gritty or rough, your paint is contaminated.

Waxes and paint sealants will adhere better to clean paint and the shine will be more uniform and vibrant. Sounds like a win-win situation to me so please let us pamper your vehicle with the services we recommend.

Wet / Dry Sanding

This kind of work should only be undertaken by a professional detailer from Inside Out Car Care. experienced in color-sanding (wet-sanding) and dry sanding, as this is more a paint renovation technique that has to be perfected.

Before and After

The paint sections / panels that are difficult and involve risk are usually those that are close to the edges of a panel (as this is where the paint is usually thinnest) or highly contoured areas. Flat areas like the trunk, hood or roof involve minimal risk.

Wet-sanding levels the paint (and removes orange peel, harsh acidic or alkaline marks, etc) it removes approximately 0.025- 0.003 Mils (a Mil is 1/1000th of an inch) of paint from the vehicle using 2000 -grit finishing paper, Bear in mind that a clear coat has a thickness of 1.5 – 2.0 Mils, removing more that 0.3 – 0.5 Mils of clear coat may cause premature paint film failure. As a point of reference a sheet of Saran wrap measures 0.95 Mils.

Paint Overspray and Vandalism

$Est.

$Est.

$Est.

This process is often time consuming and difficult to do. That is why Inside Out Car Care has become the choice of many paint contractors, insurance companies and individuals. This must be done properly, and there are many different procedures depending on what is on the paint surface, the amount, and how long it’s been there. It could be latex, enamel, or epoxy paint, concrete, oil, and the list goes on.

We approach each incident individually, trying the least invasive method to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle’s paint. Over the years we’ve developed a few safe and sure methods for over spray removal. We carefully remove it, inch by inch, from the paint, chrome, and windows. And depending on what substance is on the rubber and plastic, we will try to remove it with some safe procedure. However, we will not use any solvents to remove over spray from your rubber and plastic, so we cannot guarantee these types of surfaces will be over spray free. That being said, if someone says they can remove it make sure they are not using a solvent to do so.

What will a solvent do?

Using a solvent will pull the petroleum out of the rubber and plastic and cause it to turn dry and dull and to fix this you will constantly need to dress and condition those surfaces.

Whichever procedure we use to remove the substance we will always make sure your paint gets whatever is necessary to polish and seal it. We have often been told by customers that have experienced overspray on their vehicle that it was a good thing because they never realized their car could look so wonderful!

Odor Removal

Only on dry detailed interiors.

Chlorine Dioxide Treatment: $75

Ozone Treatment: $95

Even new vehicles can acquire unpleasant odors that build up over time. Quick methods such as burning incense, hanging an air freshener or spraying a cologne or perfume are temporary solutions at best, and rarely result in permanent odor removal.

Inside Out Car Care offers 2 different approaches to odor removal. One is Chlorine Dioxide treatment and the other is called high-ozone shock treatment, both eliminate pervasive odors such as mildew and tobacco smoke. These modern procedures are safe and eco-friendly, and can only be accomplished if the interior is dry. Depending on how strong the odor is and what it is will determine which method we will recommend.

Benefits to our automotive odor removal:

  • Cleaner smelling air
  • Reduced levels of many allergens
  • Reduced levels of microscopic organisms

Boat Detailing

boat detailing photo

Prices range from $22 to $26 a foot (up to 21 ft). Large boats or yachts with tiers, and cabins will be quoted upon request. Prices depend on condition of boat and how many steps involved in rejuvenate fiberglass.

Maybe a fuel charge depending on where we have to travel.

For years, our focus has been on Boat Detailing. The Eastern Shore of Maryland is home to many boat owners who enjoy life on the water. With busy work schedules and time spent with family, it is difficult finding time to provide the care that your boat deserves. Inside Out Boat Detailing recognizes that proper boat maintenance and regular detailing will not only give the shine and protection that your gel coat requires, but also helps in maintaining the value of your boat by preventing premature oxidation on most fiberglass surfaces.

Inside Out Boat Detailing offers mobile marine detailing or you can drop it off at our shop.

Hosing the bow, seats, vinyl, leather, deck, and outboards with fresh water will not protect against future damage caused by the salt air, UV rays, and the heat of the sun on the Eastern Shore during the summertime. For those who store their boats on trailers, owners experience challenges with stains from tree sap, leaves, and loose debris. Let Inside Out Boat Detailing clean your boat from top to bottom and take away the stress of marine maintenance.

Paint Correction

Cost per stage: $200*

What is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is a term that is now commonly used by both professional car detailers and car cleaning enthusiasts worldwide to describe the process of restoring and rejuvenating the paintwork of a vehicle, mostly through the elimination of surface imperfections, that dull, oxidize, or haze the surface by reflecting light off in various directions, therefore detracting from a true and proper, clean, sharp, reflection. These imperfections include things like swirl marks & fine scratches, bird dropping etching & acid rain etching, hologramming & buffer trails, and random isolated deep scratches (or RIDS).

paint correction photo

The term paint correction should only really be used if these imperfections are properly removed and are not just merely covered up or hidden with filler based products. The actual corrective process itself comprises of a small amount of clear coat or paint being removed from the surface with the use of abrasive polishes, which are applied and worked in with appropriate polishing machines, in order to level out the surface.

Before any paint correction is undertaken, a thorough wash and decontamination of the vehicle is performed. Paintwork is properly washed and cleaned to remove any loose dirt and debris, then after the wash process is clayed with a specialist automotive clay bar, which safely removes any bonded surface contaminants such as tar spots and industrial fallout.

It is important these contaminants are removed before the paint correction process because if they were to become dislodged and caught up in the pad of a polishing machine, they could easily inflict damage onto the surface very quickly. It also helps to leave the surface very smooth, which in turn, allows the polishing machine to move freely over the surface, reducing the possibility of hopping or sticking occurring. Lastly, claying the paintwork helps you to properly observe the progress of the correction process because you can see the true condition of the surface as you are working.

The polishing is usually a multistage process as a range of different grades of polish are used, ranging from heavier cutting compounds, which remove the surface material, to finer products which then remove any marks that the heavier products may have inflicted and generally refine the finish.

paint correction photo

Specialist halogen or LED lamps which replicate the effect of direct sunlight on the surface are also used during the process to check the condition of the paintwork and see how successfully the surface scratches and imperfections are being removed.

Some scratches or imperfections may actually be too deep or severe to safely remove without risking removing to much surface paint or clear coat and so are minimized and reduced as best as possible using techniques with the machine polisher and polish products that round off the edges of the scratches and make them far less apparent in direct light.

After correction, the panels are wiped down with an isopropyl alcohol which removes any oils that may have been left over from the polish and reveals the true finish, including any areas that may have been missed or require a little more work. Once complete, fully corrected paintwork will shine brilliantly and produce stunning reflections because there are now no longer any scratches and imperfections to scatter and reflect the light rays off in different directions.

Paint correction is a very labor intensive process and is usually the most time consuming part of the car detailing process. Consequently, it commands high premiums from professional detailers & car cleaners, and amateurs or enthusiasts should only attempt to correct their own paintwork if they are completely confident in doing so or have enough experience to carry it out safely.

paint correction photo

In conclusion, paint correction is the process of removing surface scratches and imperfections from a vehicles paintwork, which involves the use of machine polishers and a range of different polish products. A fully corrected vehicle when viewed in direct sunlight will show only true reflections and no swirl marks, scratches or blemishes will be visible to the naked eye.

Lastly, it is important to distinguish between paintwork that has been truly corrected and paintwork that has been treated with products that are designed to mask and fill surface imperfections such as an all in one polish for example. This should not be referred to as paint correction even if no scratches or blemishes are apparent, because they have not been genuinely removed and are still present under the products fillers, which in time, will wash away and reveal them once more.

Please keep in mind there are different stages in correcting paint and depending on the condition of the paint and type of paint it is determines how many stages will be necessary to accomplish the finish you as a customer is trying to accomplish. A detailer always wants to go for perfection but the customer has to make that decision.

We do however recommend clay barring and water & mineral decontamination if you are going to correct the paint and we do offer a discount for those.
